Bacillus subtilis an endophyte of chestnut (Castanea sativa) as antagonist against chestnut blight (Cryphonectria parasitica).

Wilhelm E., Arthofer W., Schafleitner R., and Krebs B.

Chestnut blight (Cryphonectria parasitica) is a severe disease of European and American chestnut. Antagonistic bacteria have been shown to have a potential use in the control of plant diseases. This report describes our approach for screening and testing bacterial isolates for antagonistic effects on the growth of Cryphonectria parasitica in vitro.
